Bhakta Spirits, preserving a renowned Armagnac in Condom

The history of Maison Dupeyron began in 1905 with Joseph Dupeyron, who founded this brand renowned for its eaux-de-vie, which had already won medals at the 1900 World's Fair.

The powerful, complex and fruity character of this golden jewel seduces palates beyond the borders of Gascony, notably that of Raj Peter Bhakta, an American entrepreneur who bought the emblematic Maison-Dupeyron, specializing in old eaux-de-vie from Gascony, in December 2019. His goal? To restore Armagnac to its former glory and introduce the whole world to the soul, history and aromas of this unique eau-de-vie produced in the Gers.

One of his first innovations to introduce Armagnac to the American public, who do not really know the spirit, was the development of a Bhakta 50 cuvée in a limited series of 38 barrels which is a blend of 8 vintage Armagnacs including an eau-de-vie from 1868 as the oldest, with a finish in Islay whisky barrels. However, the priority for Mr Bhakta is to focus on the extremely rare and old single vintage armagnacs that the house is proud to be able to offer

Attached to the values of the region, he continues to welcome visitors to the centuries old cellars located in the heart of the Hôtel Cugnac in Condom, where visitors can taste the Armagnacs still sold under the Dupeyron brand.
