Maison Dupeyron, a passion passed down through the generations

The story begins in 1905 when Joseph Dupeyron, a former distiller, founded this prestigious house with the aim of promoting Armagnac and its terroir. Based in the heart of Gascony, he collected the greatest Armagnacs and developed a unique expertise that was rewarded with a gold medal at the 1900 World's Fair for his exceptional Armagnacs. A carefully selected grape

The recipe seems simple: a white wine heated in a still to be distilled, then aged in oak barrels. And yet the production of a Dupeyron Armagnac is much more complex since it requires long-term work from the selection of the wine to the wonderful aging in oak barrels. Always in search of excellence, Maison Dupeyron turns to local winegrowers in Bas Armagnac and Armagnac Ténarèze to obtain powerful, complex and fruity eaux-de-vie of consistent quality. Armagnac Dupeyron, extraordinary cellars at the Hôtel Cugnac

It is in the heart of Condom that you can discover the magnificent century-old cellars of the house, an extraordinary place that welcomes you with a delicious smell of aging Armagnac. Like an Armagnac cathedral, it is composed of a vaulted part with 6 large French oak vats of 22,000 L each, the equivalent of 32,000 bottles of 70 cl per vat. Take the time to admire this wooded ensemble which contains the precious golden drink in 247 pieces (1 piece of Armagnac is equivalent to approximately 450 L), 15 vats of 6,000 L and 8 tuns. The location of the cellar allows it to maintain a constant temperature and offers the optimal aging conditions to obtain exceptional Armagnacs signed Dupeyron.

• A visit followed by a free Armagnac tasting (duration 30 minutes)
• A more in-depth tour of the cellars followed by a tasting of two Armagnac blends and a vintage (duration 1 hour – price €10 deducted from any in-store purchase of a minimum of €40)
• An Armagnac masterclass led by an Armagnac expert, a tailor-made workshop based on your wishes

A passion that crosses borders

The elegance of Armagnac attracts eau-de-vie enthusiasts beyond Gascony, like the American Raj Peter Bhakta, who fell in love with the region and the exceptional Armagnacs of Maison Dupeyron. In December 2019, this spirits enthusiast and historian acquired the château and cellars with the aim of introducing the world to the soul, history, and aromas of this unique eau-de-vie produced in the Gers region, starting with the United States.

A shop full of wine gems

The tour ends with a small museum that presents Armagnac and some machines like a still for distillation. The adjacent shop is also interesting since you will find the Armagnac Dupeyron cuvées including Armagnac blends and vintages, enough to make you dream when faced with these bottles sometimes several decades old.
