About

  • English
    • The Saint-Nicolas church in Montréal-du-Gers, often confused with other churches of the same name in the department, is in fact a collegiate church dedicated to Saint-Philippe and Saint-Jacques. Listed as a historical monument, it bears witness to the evolution of religious architecture from the 14th to the 17th century. Partially demolished during the Wars of Religion, it was partly rebuilt and remodeled, notably with redone vaults and a more recent bell tower. Its architecture is a mixture of styles, but it retains original Romanesque elements, such as sculpted arches and niches that adorn the interior walls.
