About

  • English
    • The 53rd edition of the European Bandas and Peñas Festival in Condom is fast approaching, boasting an exceptional program and unmissable concerts. As every second weekend in May for over half a century, 40 bandas will take over the town's streets for three days of festivities.

The thousands of festival-goers will first dance to the music of Luiza, the breakout star of 2025 with millions of streams for her summer hit "Soleil Bleu." Her trio will captivate the festival with tracks like "Demain Demain," "Oxala," and her upcoming album, which promises to be a bright and exciting release. Next up is Chef Etchebest, who will trade his kitchen for the drums. Paying tribute to rock classics like Queen and Trust, the band Chef and the Gang is sure to ignite the Condom crowd. Once night falls, the brass bands will take over the Main Stage for the rest of the weekend. After the Sud Bandas showcase on Friday evening, featuring local groups and bands from the greater South of France, the bands competing in the General Competition will take turns trying to win over the festival-goers and the jury with a diverse repertoire, ranging from the traditional paso doble to contemporary melodies, popular ballads, variety tunes, Latin rhythms and salsa, as well as blues and rock.

These bands compete for numerous European and international prizes, such as the Palme d'Or, awarded to the best band of the weekend, and the title of French Champion. The most dedicated can also attend the Junior Gathering on Sunday morning, which allows music schools to introduce their young musicians to the atmosphere of a band festival. Attracting more and more people each year to hear these new talents, the festival awards the title of Junior French Champion to the band that demonstrates the best musical skill.

In addition to the musical atmosphere, the festival offers plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend. Young revelers will have their moment to celebrate at the children's disco on Sunday, while lovers of Southwest France can enjoy a concert by the Gaitistaneko Orkestra, a Basque ensemble of bagpipes, percussion, and brass instruments, and a Landes-style bullfight set to music, offering a spectacle that combines adrenaline and conviviality.

Finally, concert enthusiasts will be thrilled every evening at the Festayre's Bodega. Fantaskes, Pistons, Laura Laffon, Lous Astiaous, and Fanou will blend brass and turntables in an atmosphere of pure festive effervescence, guaranteeing memorable evenings where music will resonate with the rhythm of passion and encounters.
