Au VIéme siècle Majan, confesseur d’ Antioche, venu d’Orient, vient évangéliser Lombez et le Savès. A sa mort, en 610, il est inhumé sur le coteau qui domine Lombez, où est édifiée une chapelle à sa mémoire. Il devient le Saint Patron du village et du Savès.
